The Sandhills Alumni Club Welcomes You to Our Site

This first year has been filled with fun, surprises, renewed acquaintances, meeting and forming new friendships and having a Buckeye blast in the process.

To attain a membership number of 198 members in the first year was beyond what I dreamed the club would accomplish in 2007-08. The Board of Governors worked hard in developing activities and getting the membership involved to ensure success. What a great group of Officers and Committee Chairpersons.

I commend each one of them for a job very well done.

This upcoming year will foster new challenges. With the spirit witnessed this past year, I know 2008-09 will be bigger and better than last year. I am seeing that already beginning to occur.

By working together, our Sandhills Alumni Club’s members achieved every requirement that the Ohio State Alumni Association stipulated that each alumni club must do in order to obtain group football tickets. Many club members traveled to Columbus to cheer our team at the Ohio University game on September 6th. I want to thank each club member who gave willingly and unselfishly in helping to make this happen.

In our first year, many successful events occurred: The Diabetes Walk, the Wounded Warrior Program, the Screw the Blue Project, and many other activities.  Thanks for helping to make it happen. Thanks for making Paying Forward a pleasure. Thanks for great jobs this past year and the wonderful memories. The Board also thanks you from the bottom of all their Buckeye hearts!

If you live out the area and are reading this, I want to take this opportunity to invite you to visit either one of our club locations if you happen to be in our region. The club meets at Beef’O’Brady’s on Hay Street in downtown Fayetteville for game days. Or, if you plan to visit the Pinehurst/Southern Pines areas, our club meets at Mint Julep’s in Southern Pines on Hall Street, off Broad Street. Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina with a bunch of nuts….Buckeyes, that is!

Buckeye supporters and fans from any where are always welcome. Come join in the fun because our club has it going on! Scarlet and Gray all the way!
